Our Story
Why we built this.
The east Sacramento corridor — Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Rancho Cordova — has a concentration of talented, ambitious professionals who've increasingly chosen to work independently or remotely. But the workspace options haven't kept up. Coffee shops close early. Home offices get claustrophobic. Driving into Sacramento isn't worth it for most people.
Granite City Workspaces was built to fill that gap. A professional environment in Historic Downtown Folsom with everything you need for a productive day — and nothing you don't. Fast Wi-Fi, private meeting rooms, great coffee, free parking, and no three-year lease.
We opened in 2019 as Granite City Coworking, and later became Granite City Workspaces as the space grew beyond coworking into meeting rooms, private offices, and event venues.
In November 2021, while most local events had gone quiet, TEDxFolsom held its first program inside Granite City Coworking. The chapter's founding organizers met here, and Granite City's leadership advised the group as it took shape — hosting the production behind that year's RE-IMAGINE talks, including Julia A. Nicholson's "The Way We Think About Loss and Grief is Dead Wrong," later published on TED.com. When TEDxFolsom took the stage for its first live audience at the Harris Center in January 2023, Granite City became an official sponsor of TEDxFolsom REIMAGINE — a partnership that continues today. What started with a handful of organizers meeting in a Folsom coworking space is now one of the region's most visible ideas platforms.
